There is the Quasi-Low Jack + Twitter thing, but you would to have had that pre-installed.

Hmm, that is an interesting situation... You might be able to ssh into the iPod when/if it periodically checks for mail or other info, as it will connect to the network when it does so, assuming that it is connected via wifi. If you're using an airport router you can watch the list of connected clients to see when it pops up, and try to ssh into it. I'm not really what you could do at that point, but at least you'd know that it's within wifi range, and you could begin your search. Just make sure and make the garbage the first place you check, before you take it out...

Oh, and you could also try to install some apps over ssh that make the screen flash and/or the buzzer sound, assuming you could find such apps and make them run at startup...

you don't need it connected to your computer to SSH, SSH is over wifi....

you could try using a metal detector. check under the couch coushins. its probably somewhere you would least use it in, like in the bathroom maybe.

Yes, but that shows the location of the touch within, say, 500 feet. SO not very useful for losing it in a house.

Also, if you are able to SSH into it, it might be possible with command line to unlock it, then execute the FlashLight app, if you have it.

It also just happens to be slightly smaller than the average wallet.
