I'm a new user and new to the iPod Touch. I recently purcashed an iPod Touch 2G and although not jailbroken i feel very confident there will be one (Maybe not shortly). Any to my question, Firstly is the "Music" on the dock an App? If so doesn't this mean there is potential for other Apps to run in the background?

Sorry if this has already been asked or discussed or even archieved

    thanks David.

next, The music icon you see there is infact an App. As are all the other icons you see on your screen while on the SpringBoard.

Other Apps, which are not made by Apple, cannot run in the background due to the fact that they would drain battery power quickly as they would always be running. Jailbreak apps can run in the background as they can break this restriction in order to do so.

    Hope this helped

In the future, Apple may allow a certain few apps to run in the background. How does Pandora continue to play music even after one has quit it?
