Hmm, this does make you think though. How easy would it be for somebody to hide some sort of bomb in a phone? I mean obviously the device is going to be metal with all kinds of wires in it. Could airport security really tell the difference?
Is there a way to detect the powders used in explosives? Because they have to detect them somehow! If they went by what you said, every electronic device could be considered a bomb.
Yes they can. They have dogs that can sniff the stuff, you just can't see the dogs. They also have sensors that will detect the stuff. Did you know the TSA are all armed with weapons? They have dogs (yes, you just can't see them). They aren't as stupid as you think. I've travelled worldwide basically my whole life, so take it from 17 years of experience!
Other than grounding some planes a couple years back, doing pat downs on 11 year old kids to 84 year old women, and their involvement in a drug trafficking plot in LAX a few days back, yeah they seem like a smart organization! I sure am glad my tax monies goes to them!
