Ok, so I jailbroke my iPot earlier this year on 1.1.4, then upgraded to 2.0 and did it again using Pwnage. Big thanks to them, love the work you are doing and as soon as I get back to a country where I can tie my bank account to Paypal you're getting some cash.

Anyways, so I have my custom firmware files (the .ipsw files) sitting on my desktop, and I'm just wondering, can I burn them to CD and then delete them off the computer? Or do they need to be on the computer in order for the iPot to work properly when I sync it.
Maybe a silly question, but never ask and never know.
    Cheers for any useful replies.

The firmware files don't need to be on the computer unless you're restoring. I would keep your current firmware on your computer for convenience, but you could just keep them on a cd and you'll be fine.
