A Little Help, Please?

    I have an 8 GB 2nd gen iPod touch. However, iTunes says my iPod has 7.01 GB capacity. What's up with that?

    The OS has to take up some space.

    That, and you dont always get exactly 8Gb... more like 7.87Gb...

    Yeah, I assumed OSthat came with it took up some space. So 8GB total, not 8GB when you get it. That's a little sneaky advertising, but oh well.

    on 3.1.1 i got a capacity of 6.9 GB so yeah OS

    I think that apple should advertise to the public that their OS takes like 1G of space so people wont count on an 8G ipod touch to hold their 8GB of songs

    OS doesn't exactly take up 1 GB. The other factor is what most companies call a GB as.

    and if u jailbreak your current firmware and install a few 'large' apps and other things, expect to have less hard drive space. maybe half a gb?
