I'll just list them to make it easier to answer.

    1. What does MC stand for? I see it in the forums here but I'm a bit confused.

    2. Is there not an iOS4 public release jailbreak yet? I noticed there is a jailbreak for the GM release? * I have a 2G iPod Touch

    3. If I chose to jailbreak, will Cydia be on there for good or can I opt to not have it?

    4. Anything else I need to know about iOS4 for the 2G and a jailbreak? (I already know that background wallpapers and multitasking aren't supported).

    Thanks again!

    1. Go into Settings -> General -> About. Under "Model" it will show a number. Second generation devices contain the letters, "MB" and devices manufactured in the third generation begin with "MC" and always get their jailbreaks released last.

    2. Check out redsn0w.

    3. By default it will come with Cydia but you can't remove it unless you really want to.

MC is 3rd gen iPod touch

    MA is first gen
    MB is second gen

8gig MC has same hardware as MB second gen
So it doesn't get multitask and wallpapers

32gig 64gig MC models have upgraded hardware more CPU/ram
    And get all features

    nope, not correct.

M means most likely mobile or whatever.
    A (B, C) stands for release time.

    e.g.:
    A was released in 2007
    B was released in 2008
    C was released in 2009

there's also a 2nd generation iPod Touch with MC.

M probably stand for model. And of course, the A, B, C is for ordering. Model A, B and C. The generations of iOS also correspond with the letters. iOS first gen = A, iOS second gen = B, iOS third gen = C. The 2nd generation iPod touch "MC" was part of Apples lineup for the third gen. They lowered the price by $30 and installed the bootrom we've grown to accept for who it is.
