I'm sending a 2G touch to a friend in another state for a Christmas gift. She doesn't have a computer but is going to download her stuff with the app on the iPod. Is there any way you can use it without connecting to itunes first? Also, is it ok for a fully charged battery to sit for a week or two?

I can answer your latter question: it's fine to let it sit for a few weeks, it'll just slowly drain while not in use.

She can use a dock or USB charger. But considering she doesn't have a computer I doubt she would have that.

i don't think you can.. the ipod needs to be activated... if you're sending a christmas present like that... activate it, put some music on, and buy her a wall charger too.. she'll appreciate that much more
