I know virtually nothing about the IPAD but would like to purchase one as a gift. My question is - if I buy the least expensive version, can the recipient add on to equal the more expensive versions?

I think he means add more storage space to the iPad.

No, I don't think it's possible. Why not save up for a 64GB in that case?

it is not possible to add on to the ipad to make it equivalent to the more expensive version. IE if you buy the 16GB wifi version you cannot upgrade it to become a 64GB version with wifi and 3g.
