i will probably use 1200 songs max
buy a couple of my fav movies
    not alot of photos

but is it just a good idea to have the 16gb jsut in case?
im on a tight budget and i feel the 8gb is for me but is 8 more gb worth 100 more dollars + more tax $ ? also if i jailbreak it will it take up too much room on the 8gb model?

if any1 has been on this site in the past day u can tell i realllllllllllly want the touch and i want to jailbreak it i just hope it doesnt break.

Not if your talking about a angry dog that's coming at you to bite your arm off. I'd rather the dog be smaller than big so that I could fight it off.

I'd go with the 16GB IF you can afford it. If not, buy the 8GB. Still plenty of space.

If you convert all your music to AAC from mp3 then you will definately save some serious space. I converted a few full albums I have in iTunes, 350 songs about. It went from 2GB to 1.25GB. Music sounds just as great and saved me abit less than half the space! So if you have 1300 songs that'll probably be around 8GB actually. No good if you get an 8GB ipod. However if you convert all that to AAC itll probably end up being about 5GB.

I think charging 100$ extra for an extra 8gb is a complete rip-off. And believe me, I have never ever complained about apple. I'm an apple fanboy, but they just went over the line.

Also, remember, its not the size, its how you use it!

Personally, I would go for the 16GB, you know you will regret it if you don't. As your library grows and you get some more films, you will soon run out of space!

Right but as it grows you stop watching the other movies. I delete movies off my hdd when I get new ones and dont watch the older ones. Big spaced ipods are for collectors. No one really listens and watches 160GB worth of media on their ipod classics, its just for having it there's sakes. I have a 8GB nano and I dont listen/watch 3/4 of the stuff on it right now.
