Is there any difference in performance, hardware or software between the two models? I know that in the 3G iPod Touch the 8GB handled iOS 4 as good as the iPod Touch 2G while the 32 and 64GB models handled it better.

The only difference is just the size of the models. Nothing else.

iPod Touch 3G 8 gig was the same as 2G but the iPod Touch 3G 32-64 gig was faster than the 8 gig

there might be a difference in RAM, but thats unlikely. as of now, all 3 models are the same other then storage capacity.

They're the same and they all have 256MB RAM.

But I though people were speculating the the 3rd Gen 32GB and 64GB were faster in terms of it's processor. We'll I once saw that it had a few seconds difference with the old generation iPod.

Yes, in the "last generation" of iPod touches, they sold a 2nd gen 8GB, and also a 3rd gen 32 and 64GB version.

In this generation, all of the touches are the same, the only difference being the amount of storage. There will be no speed differences.

Edit: Also, someone mentioned that the 8GB version might have lower RAM than the rest, which is not true. All 4th gens have 256MB of RAM.
