741kb/s on Dialup?

    im a dialup user and when i was downloading this thing my download speed was 741kb/s. is that normal? i can replicate but it takes a few tries.

    You might have a multiple connection setup so you havedialup and also a wifi.

    i have a very old computer so it has no router, just a straight phone line free dial up btw

    1.your phone is extremely powerful

    2.you have a fibre optic cable

    3.you are close to a connection tower

    Try downloading a bigger file.

    My normal download speed is 3-5kb/s.... so i doubt its a fiber optic cable

    Its not dial up, has to be DSL, to get such speeds

    I think its the size of the file. As stated above, try a replicating it on a bigger file.

    How long did the file actually take to download? I mean in your screenie it says there's a few seconds remaining to download 922-714 = 208kB. Let's say "a few seconds" is 4s. 208/4 = 52kb/s. Which is still too high but...

    If it was really 741kB/s your file should only take a bit over a second. I often see humungous speeds shown in FF when the connection is all over the place for whatever reason - bad ping etc.
