[READ] Firmwares are not different. 4MB? Pffft

You guys are all acting like little kids fighting about fake Pokemon they got from Action Replay. The 4MB difference between the firmware 2.0 you get from iTunes and the firmware 2.0 you get from elsewhere is the different compression methods. The firmware file itself is compressed then extracted into the iPod. Different compression methods will lead to different file sizes. Both firmware files were in different locations and it would be rational to believe they were treated differently. Relax. They are both official and legitimate.

Are you sure they were in different locations?

The direct link exploit was right from Apple, so why wouldn't iTunes use the same link?

It would be irrational to believe the server is spitting out the file in different data sizes at the same location at different times. The files have to be originating from two separate locations or even from two separate servers.

Ok, but why would Apple use a different compression method? Testing purposes, perhaps, but it is still doubtful.

The version i paid for is 222mb i even searched my whole computer for "5a347" and it came up with 3 files, the temp files and the application files, plus i just downloaded the restore version from iTunes and it's the 222mb version.

I think that guy is right, the iPhone version is 226mb.

Look they would use different compression methods because they put them in different locations that are made for different things. There is nothing significant about a 4 megabyte difference.

    Thank you.
