    Hi,

I know there are many people having problems with downgrading from 4.0 to 3.1.3 or 3.1.2. When people edit the host file they edit it like this:

    # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

As you can see they added the new host at the bottom of the list.
They need to add it at the top because itunes doesnt realize that there are more than one hosts. It only checks one host and gives you an error such as 3194 or 94. You will need to put the host you added in at the top!!!
    like this:

74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com <<< this one needs to be at the top
127.0.0.1 localhost <<< its at the bottom

This should help you get the downgrade working...

    Great!

You will need to change the host file. If you added the new host to the host file, it needs to be the first one... Go here:

    Recon.
Copy it to your documents, put in the host serrver name.
    Then save it.
Then transfer to C: hosts folder thingy.
