So I have an iPhone 4 running 4.0.2

and this website is telling me I could jailbreak it by using redsn0w, and when it ask for the current firmware, to download 4.0 firmware and select that instead.

    Apparently it will jailbreak 4.0.2.

Can anyone tell me if this is legit or not? I don't wanna waste time or anything.

It has to be an iPhone 3g or less to be jailbroken with 4.0.2 on redsn0w

If you have a iPhone 4 (Which in your info says you do) then No. redsn0w 0.9.5 beta only supports iPod Touch 2G (Non-MC Model) and iPhone 3G
Oh and the link is dead.
4.0.2 is only jailbreakable by the pwned4life devices listed above

Would it do anything terrible to my device if I tried? I don't think it would, I figure the worst that could happen is that it wont work lol.

If you have an iPhone 4, don't do it. It's a waste of time, and you might end in a Bootloop.

Just a bit longer. The iPod Touch 4G is about to come out, with 4.1, then Comex probably will spend one of his exploits for it.

I'm not sure exactly, I think it came with 4.0.1 but I restored to my backup so it went straight to 4.0.2. is there any way I can tell if I had been at 4.0.1 before?
