I upgraded my old bootrom 3gs to 4.0, didnt like it and restoreed back to 3.1.3, but no tools other then spirt work, my custom build 3gs restore always gets error 1600 (dfu mode) or just waits on prreparing to restore in recovery mode, redsn0w shows a black screen, so does blackra1n.... is there something that was upgated?
    help please

you need to put it in dfu mode or recovery mode, when 1600 shows, its because your iphone/ipod didnt enter dfu/recovery mode correctly

Redsn0w doesn't "pwn" the device. You need to use pwnagetool to pwn it before you can use a custom firmware.

    ...yes it does
redsn0w changes iboot, so you can have custom boot logos
