iPad in your pocket? iPhone without contract? Who knows, even though this is most likely just a rumor, I'd hop on it in an instant if it were true.

Those both are practically iPod Touches
An iPhone without a contract is practically a iPod Touch
A iPad in your Pocked it practically a iPod Touch

Well if this is the case might as well drop the iPod and only release the iPhone. It destroy the purpose to separate the device.

But if it goes to other carrier (ie: Big Red, Yellow and Cheap Pink)

Offtopic: Nano + shuffle = a shuffle with a screen. Looks cool.

But WHY would Apple add the 3G component on the iPod? Are they trying to kill the iPhone? For facetime? (which will hit the 3G network soon). Online game time?

You can't use FaceTime over 3G.
