    ipod 3rd gen compatability?

Hello, I am about to get an ipod touch 3g, but I wanted to know, is it compatible with the same port plug ins?

I "heard" somewhere it had a different plug at the bottom and an older ipod clock would be incompatible, I have yet to find somewhere to prove or disprove it. Thank you in advance.

Actually, I have a device called the Ifusion which is a docking station that plays my music and charges the ipod, but it doesn't charge second gen, and third gen ipod touches, but it does with first gen, and the older classics. So, I guess something has changed.

Only diff between 1st gen and 3rd gen is how it charges 2/3g will charge via USB only, the 1g can charge over FireWire and USB
