IF YOU HAVE THE 300MB, DO THIS TO REPAIR ONLY (VERIFIED)

    ************************************************** **************

-. If you're not already there, navigate to /var/root and rename Media to Media_sym

-. Rename Mediaold to Media. Keep the FTP and SSH windows open.

-. Open iTunes and allow it to activate. If it doesn't recognize your iPod, reboot it and/or restart iTunes.

    -------------

I have navigated to /var/root using Cyberduck. I find 4 folders.

1st folder (regular folder icon): Library

    2nd folder (arrow icon): Media

    3rd folder (arrow icon): Media_sym

4th folder (regular folder icon): Mediaold

Media and Media_sym seem to have the same contents.

    Mediaold contains 3 items:

    File: com.apple.itunes.lock_sync
    Folder: DCIM
    Folder: iTunes_Control.

How do I use the above fix in my situation?

Please, oh, please - I hope somone has an answer for me.

    Thanks,

    Karen

Just wondering, have you tried a forced restore yet? If so and you have the same problem, I would check that the process in which you used to jailbreak your iPod Touch is proven to work with iTunes syncing after the slight folder name modifications.

The icons with the arrows are SymLinks. Basically, they are shortcuts like on windows. Simply Feel free to delete the Media_Sym that you have, rename Media to Media_Sym, and Mediaold to Media.

I've got a touch now with 300mb on it (59 free) i've downloaded some files rar but havent done anything like run them so dont know why mine is saying this if i havent run any hack software. The only thing i did was plug it into a stereo unit that has a ipod dock on top and am considering whether that might have blown the ram in the ipod. Like i say i went on some websites and looked about doing it but never ran any of the downloaded files from the winrar file. looks like i'm phoning apple later (only came this morning)

phoned apple and tried all resetting and restoring (for the tenth time). in the process had to uninstall itunes, turn off pc,turn on pc, and then download newest version, install lastest version of itunes, reset ipod, restore ipod. still no better so since 1 day old was told to go on apple site and send it back under warrenty. (the error code i got when trying to restor via itunes was (-18) she said that was usually a itunes problem.

Also have 300mb, however it won't restore, the 150mb 1.1.1 goes to over 160 and always needs restarting the connection.

home button & power just power it of or asks me to slide to confirm power off...

I was halfway through jailbraking (ipodtouchmaster jailbreak vid) when it could not connect to write the cache file.

How do I force restore then? or can I do another jailbreak attempt?
