Oh, good thing you capitalized UNTETHERED so we KNOW it's IMPORTANT to you.

Yes, 2G jailbreaks are untethered. It means you won't need to connect it to a computer to start your iPod. Mind you, even if the jailbreak was tethered you only had connect it to a computer IF AND ONLY IF YOU TURNED IT OFF.

Mine has been sleeping for a few days now. It doesn't drain that much battery. The funny thing is it drains more if you boot/reboot it. Apple must've sped up the process by overclocking the startup or something... Only turn it off if you know you won't touch it for a few days (which for me personally, it is very very unlikely to happen because I use it almost every day).

Would you say that redsn0w 0.8 is good to use for a untethered Jailbeak on 3.0

I'll make this clear for you.

You don't need a computer to start a 2G iPod touch. Be it 3.0 or 3.1.2. Only "3G" owners need to do that and only IF they shutdown their iPods.

    3.0 - redsn0w 0.8
    3.1.2 - blackra1n

I'm on 3.1.2, I used blackra1n and everything works great.

And another thing. Using redsn0w you'll need the computer to be connected to the internet. But using blackra1n you'll need wireless access to be able to download Cydia.

That would be called tethered which the jailbreak is. Please search, and read up on blackra1n. You have to run it everytime you want to turn your iPod on.
