That's funny it runs perfectly on my 1G Ipod Touch. No heat related issues, no slowness. It runs 3.0 just as well as it did the older versions. It has had everything from 1.1.4 all the way up to 3.0 and never had an issue. There is a version of the 3.0 firmware made specifically for the 1G Ipod Touch. It seems to me that firmware version 3.0 is more problematic on the Ipods that it was supposedly designed to enhance (2G models).

I have had slight lag in Safari, otherwise no problems.

Is downgrading that hard? Why don't you just press Shift+Restore in iTunes. Then select ipod 2.2.1_restore.ipsw and you should be fine.

    mit420,

    you never had 2.2.1 ?

If you can, get the 2.2.1 ipsw restore and every other update, and then "upgrade" one step at a time. If that sounds dumb, maybe it is.

However, I never update a BIOS, for example, except one update at a time.

I had 2.2.1 and after i upgraded 3.0 i can't downgrade it gives me an error (20) or (1601). I think Apple made the 3.0 in such a way that you cannot downgrade. Is that what it is, if it is then what about the Coverflow
    helppppp

I did had 2.2.1 before and then i upgraded to 3.0
