I thought that the new firmware was Suppose to eliminate the need to log into free wifi sites that require a log in
my college has this situation where you need to log in with your Id number
and if you are idle too long it kicks you off and requires re log in

why do I still have to log in all the time?

I noticed that if you log onto a secure Wifi (with the little lock symbol) on campus the process is the same, you enter your ID number and pw
but now you get a new sort of setup screen
and now it seems to be working. It hasn't kicked me for idle time and I havnt had to re login
The problem seems to be with open wifi (even though it requires login)

    Update ***

since connecting to the "secure" network at the college and accepting that new screen that came up, I now never have to log in again no matter where I am on campus

I never figured that when I changed access points I wouldn't have to re login
    awesome
