is there a way to downgrad my ipodtouch 2g from 3.0 to 2.x?
Get a clean 2.2.1 firmware and shift + restore to it on iTunes.
As far as i know, there is if you have a Mac, but I don't think there's a Windows method yet.
It might be possible using the RSlite Pre-jailbreak patch, then an Option+Restore to a clean 2.2.1 in iTunes. Other than that, you can't.
I did this yesterday and it worked just fine.
Sorry i'm new to this but, how do you get a "clean 2.2.1 firmware"?
You need to downgrade your itunes into 8.1.1 then downgrade
No you don't. If you don't know then why bother posting wrong info?
All you need to do is get the old firmware (it may still be in your computer) put the ipod into DFU mode, plug it into your computer with itunes open, when itunes says it's found an ipod in recovery mode hold shift and select the old firmware instead of the new 3.0 file.
I'm still trying to figure this out, so... I have iTunes 8.2 and I heard (possibly wrongly) that you can't jailbreak with it? And I upgraded to 3.0 just for kicks (stupidly), and now my jailbroken stuff that my friend did for me was lost. I've read quite a few posts about this happening to others so i'm just trying to put things back: how do I get the old firmware if I can't find it on my computer?
Unless you deleted it yourself it should still be there. Mine was here.
C:\Documents and Settings\MANOWAR\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates.
If it's not there for you. Do a google search for this file
the original UNJAILBROKEN firmware is here.
