Hi, I am planning to get iPod touch 2nd gen sometime soon.
And I was planning to get preferably a leather case or a hard case.
I heard that the Incase slider or something was really good, but I found that the color shade was kind of bland.
The leather DLO cases, I'm looking at those right now.

Can you guys recommend some hard cases or leather cases?
    Hard cases.
-Hard case must not stick to pockets
-It's ok if it's a little bit slippery
-Clear cases will be my last options

    Leather cases.
    -Flip
    -Black
-Not ugly and super mega ultra thick

Also, I'm planning to somehow get VOIP on my touch if it's possible.
I was wondering if I could use these if I get VOIP.

Would I need anything else? Or would I be good to go with those earphones?

    THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE
    HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

    edit:
Screen protectors, if I get a flippy leather case, would a screen protector film be needed?
Also, are they really hard to apply?
I got some cheap screen protector for my sansa e200 at one point [sticky type]
and there was air bubbles everywhere, 2 hours, I gave up trying to get rid of them.
So, would applying screen protectors be a pain in the ass for noobs like me?

Belkin leather folio are IMO the ultimate protection for your touch. They are well made and the leather is thick.

Just buy a 1g model though for your 2g......they fit the 2g perfectly and are IMO a better case than Belkin 2g folios and they are also very cheap now because they have been superceded since 2g came out.

Never used a leather case, but I currently have this on my touch, and I love it. It fits really snug, doesn't catch in the pocket, and the back is a very soft rubber, which is very nice for impact. Plus it comes with a screen protector, but most products do nowadays.

I just feel really safe with the total protection that the leather folio affords your touch.

I have other cases but to be honest having a case that exposes the MOST important side of the iPod touch - it's front - just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Yes, I had the reflect for my old sansa, imo it doesnt offer that much protection, only looks. It gets easily chipped and broken.

The folio is number 1 in my mind atm.

    Still have some unanswered questions.
Would a screen protector be needed for a flippy leather case?

    1. They offer extra protection, but it's not needed. Most cases include a screen protector now anyways.

2.You can't have VoIP on a 2nd-gen iPod touch because it is not yet jailbroken.

Tell me how a super thin plastic screen protector helps if you drop it face down on something pointy?

    You're wrong.

It was only a general statement that it will provide extra protection against scratches. Of course, in a scenario like that, it doesn't help at all.

After some research, I am wrong. Thanks for pointing this out. I was always under the assumption that VoIP required jailbreak because it was a mod, but with the microphone headphones I'm assuming it's possible? I've never been too familiar with VoIP on the iPod touch, so maybe you could fill me in on some info about it for the 2nd-gen?

So is getting a screen protector worth the trouble?
