Ever since I got the new 2g touch it won't charge with the built-in iPod cable in my Scion xA. It still plays but no charging. It gives me the message "charging device not supported". The 1g touch had no problems. I did some research and found out that the 1g touch supported charging over Firewire or USB, and syncing over USB. The 2g touch only supports charging and syncing over USB.

Now it looks like we're going to have to buy one of theses,
    iPhone 3g/iPod charge converter

    Thanks Apple!!!!!!

. I know it's not much, but I spent a good 60 bucks on an iHome type docking station way back when and it's worked on ALL of my iPods, but out pops the 2G of Apple's vag and we have a problem on our hands -_-

See the other thread about iHome charging.

iPod touch 2g and iphone 3g no longer support the old legacy firewire charging pins which apparently these docking stations made use of.

Sucks, but makes sense since firewire syncing was removed so many years ago.
