I killed my first Ipod in water, and waited months for a replacement for my birthday.

Fast forward 2 months, and I've just got a new laptop. Transferred my music into new itunes via USB stick/cd's etc. All working fine yesterday. So today I plug it into computer, all fine does some app undates take it out then discover my music library is empty

Plug it back in, but itunes says the music is still there showing Xgb is full with music, then suddenly Itunes says it can't read it, tells me to restore. Which I try, first it has to download update (think the 2.2 ) all fine until it begins to update ipod. It crashes, screen turns black and the ipod is unresponsive Then I get a pop up with USB Device has malfunctioned - I tried different cable, then in my old laptop, but get the same USB had malfunctioned.

Arggggh so looks like bye bye ipod. My dad will kill me if he finds out

Will Apple replace it? (I checked no water damage) it's only 2 months old.
How will I go about replacing, it was brought in a John Lewis, but could I for instance take it straight to an Apple store??

Failing that I could dip into my pathetic student loan/bursary when it comes through in a few weeks

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance
