I just got a 2g iPod Touch with 4.1 firmware. No SHSH because its never been jailbroken before, it is also an MC model.

Plain and simple, am I able to jailbreak? and if so is it going to have to be tethered?

    edit:

if you want to jailbreak you have two options, i suggest the second option:

    1. use redsn0w with the 4.1 ipsw and jailbreak through there (NOTE: this with give you a tethered jailbreak, meaning you need to use redsn0w everytime you reboot)

    2. downgrade to 4.0, must be on windows, open C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts in notepad and add "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" to the end without the quotes. next download iReb, 3.1.2 and 4.0 ipsw. Go through iReb and when you get the snowflake just go into itunes and shift click then restore with 4.0. It might take a few trys in itunes but i can confirm that this method works. finally just go to jailbreakme.com on your ipod in safari.

Yes, with a beta of RedSn0w, are you a Mac or Windows user?
