I just finished making a poster for the movie 2012. I made this entirely from scratch, except for the 2012 logo.

The stars, text, and effects were dont in photoshop, and the earth was made in 3ds max 2010. The logo was taken from an official movie poster, because I wanted it to resemble the real posters as much as possible, and I couldn't even find a suitable font. I included a version with lens flare and without lens flare. I know lens flare is generally a low quality effect added to make designs look more professional, but after looking at other 2012 posters as well as the angle from which light hits my earth object, it seems fitting. plus I kinda like how it draws your eye to the movie title and highlights it. But I'll leave it up to you guys to decide which is better.

suggestions, criticism, comments are all welcome!

Nice work, playing off the whole galactic alignment on Dec 21, 2012.

I may make a landscape version with a comet hurtling towards earth, like really wide landscape. although I'm pretty sure theres no comet in the movie...who cares, its just fun!

or maybe the earth falling into the sun...

also, I dont think it will end in 2012. I mean, we're panicking because a group of people who lived thousands of years ago stopped writing their calendar, which had to be done by hand (no computers then), thousands of years after they died out.

Maybe a landscape version could just show the earth in perspection to the sun, where it looks dangerously close to it. idk. or just show it in space with a buncha planets aligned
