    Ok..here's my story.
I currently have an Ipot touch 1st gen, and I just bought a 2nd gen. I have apps and some other text files that are saved on there. I'm giving my 1st gen to my girlfriend, but she wants to clear the memory and start fresh. I want to transfer the files to my 2nd gen...is there something I can do?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Are you jailbroken? If so I think you could SSH and copy Var over to 2g

Backup the 1st gen in iTunes, then restore the 2nd gen and use the backup of the first to recuperate things like settings, notes, etc. Both iPods need to be on the same firmware or else it won't work.
Also, backups don't apply to media (i.e. music, videos, apps, etc.) but you should already have that on your computer so it'd be a matter of resyncing your library.

I did exactly what Juan said, and yes it did work! I backed up the 1st gen, and left Itunes running when I plugged in the 2nd gen. Upon doing so, Itunes told me to register. When I registered using my Apple account, it promted me to create a new ipod or restore existing. After it was finished, everything was restored to the new ipod. Everything. Music, videos, email, notes, Apps...Thanks for everything!
