Me and my dad have an iPod touch under the same account. I plan on updating to 3.0. He wants to update too, but I don't want to pay twice. When one of us buys an app, the other can download it for free. Will it be the same way for the update?

    I believe so.

    Correct me if I'm mistaken.

I would recommend downloading 3.0 from an ******* so you wouldn't have to pay the $10.

But, yes, if your Dad buys it, you can upgrade 5 devices to 3.0.

When you upgrade the firmware the entire package is downloaded to your computer. All you have to do is locate that file and copy it to a safe folder and then you can manually upgrade as many Ipods as you want. Also, this is convenient if your Ipod ever is reset to factory (or whatever the term is). Then you don't have to bother with redownloading the install package. I was already at 2.2.1 and my Ipod was reset and it had to re-download the package. Internet kept dropping so it took a while. After it was done I found the file, saved it and now I am pretty much set if I ever have to reinstall my firmware.

MY Dad has the iphone and gets the update free. I have the touch 2.0, can i just locate the file on his computer, and put it in he same place on mine. will it then sync and install as if I bought it?

The iPhone OS differs significantly from the iPod OS. You don't want to be doing that.

I'm sorry, but your grammar is dreadful.

It should read, "My Dad and I both have an iPod touch, which is under the same iTunes account."
Why are you wrong? -If you take away your Dad in the sentence it doesn't make sense, "Me have an iPod touch", unless you're a caveman. Which I doubt you are as you have an iPod touch...

But that's the general rule. Take away the other person and see if it sounds right... I did it for 16 years then realised the error of my ways... It annoys you when you start to do it.

    Happy english lesson.

Any news on when OS 3.0 is coming out?
