im having a problem. i had a jailbroken ipod touch 1st gen 2.1, and i clicked update in itunes. It comes out with an error and stops the installation, so i try again in recovery mode. no good get error 13, then in dfu i get error 1601, ive tried everything i can think of, including trying to restore it to 2.1. but they all end up in an error.

I can infer that you are using Windows.

your right, but that shouldn't make any difference, and if it did its apples fault for not making a stable itunes for windows

ok, get into DFU mode again, you must do the step again to DFU mode and just try doin it so the error will not come up, once i try to restore my ipod touch and then i set it to DFU mode and then i get that error 1601 and im like wth!!! so what i did is i redo the steps to get to DFU mode and then i was able to restore it

by holding the home and power button for 10 seconds and then by releasing the home button and wait for response from itunes. I hope it helps

I have the same problem. Error 1601 first and now error 13 on two different Windows XP 32-bit not-virtual real computers.

I am trying to update to iTunes 8.0.2 and then do it.
I have tried both regular Restore and Shift+Click restore.

    EDIT:
    I updated iTunes to 8.0.2
Putting my iPod Touch into DFU mode results in a 1601 error after "Waiting for iPod"

What? You unplugged your computer without turning it off and that fixed it?
I will wait for a different solution.
