How can I downgrade my iPod back to 1.1.4 or 1.1.5? I know, I know, 2.1 is better etc.... But it takes up too much room. I have an 8GB Touch. With 1.1.4/5, I used to be able to fit over 1,700 songs. Now since 2.1 has many new apps and it takes up way more room, I can only hold around 1,520 songs. I'm not really into the apps or anything. Music is the main reason for my use. So, are there any methods to downgrade?

I downloaded that thing. And now I have this file that says:

    iPod1,1_1.1.5_4B1_Restore
Type: Apple Device Software Update File
    Size: 165 MB
    Date Modified: 11/2/2008 4:40 PM

I don't know what to do with it. I just click it and it opens up my iTunes window - That's it. Doesn't say anything just goes to it.

    Additional info:
    I have iTunes 8.0.1.

So please, if someone can, give me a tutorial on how to downgrade (without losing my iTunes library). I'm not really good at these type of things all by myself.

    *facepalm*

You can't learn to cycle your music? There have to be 180 songs in that collection that you don't listen to regularly at all.

No. I like the way I had it.

BTW. I'm from Pennsylvania too. Philadelphia.

    But anyway, any help?

If you'd read previous posts, you'd know you have to go to DFU mode as well and use iTunes 7.5 or lower... per the 'Downgrading from 2.0 to 1.1.x' guide in the Jailbreak 2.0 forums. It's either that, or get someone with a Mac to make a custom firmware for you that reduces the root partition size.

Personally, if you've that much music, I'd suggest getting a 16GB iPod Touch 2G for it and keep this one jailbroken as-is.
