2.1.1 Firmware on 1st Gen iPod

    You can restore from absolutely anything.

    There are lots of things that stop you from running 2.1.1 on an older device; the simplest to understand is that Img3 files have a BORD tag, specifying what device they'll run on.
    2.1.1 Img3 files have BORD tags for only n72ap, the new iPod touch.

    Touché, i didnt know that, but what would happen if somebody did shift restore, would it just crash and freeze or what?

    iTunes would error out because the images BORD type wouldn't pass WTF's checks.
