I recently was going through all the voip things on this forum and wanted to give 1.1.4 another shot. Only problem was I also wanted to have installer and be up to date on everything with 2.0.1. I figured I'd just jump to a windows pc (mind you i was on a mac which had 2.0.1 installed) which had no itunes on it and see what happens. I installed 7.5 on windows, and tried 1.1.4. That failed with error 1. I installed 7.7, rebooted, uninstalled 7.7, rebooted, installed 7.5. Tried 1.1.4 again, that failed again with error 1.

I jumped back the my mac and tried to restore with a custom 2.0.1, then stock 2.0.1, and even 2.0 and nothing worked. All with error 1600.

I'm hoping I didn't just make a brick, it is detected by itunes everytime i plug it in as a device in recovery mode. I know I sound like a noob, but please help.

Few questions: Why does error 1600 usually show up? If it's in DFU mode now, how do I get 2.0.1 back on to it if even the one freshly downloaded from apple fails with error 1600?

Now, if an ipod is in DFU mode, how long does it remain in it? Is there anyway to get it out of DFU mode like turning it all off?
