When they say some features lost on ipod touch 1st generation what do they mean. Will it be able to update to the 3.0 or will it require a new ipod? Does this also mean there will be a 3rd generation ipod touch?

This means for example that 1G won't have all the bluetooth features... and features that aren't supported by the hardware such as voice i think

    1. Its an iPod Touch, not a iTouch.
    2. But, yer there is no bluetooth chip in it so that won't be there, voice will be supported, just that you will defiantly need an external mic.

    1. Really? If you're going to correct somebody about the name, you might as well get it right. It's an iPod touch. The T isn't capital.

Yes, although the current firmware version simply disables it.

Agree'd. There are some features on the 1st generation iPod Touch that will not be available due to not having the correct hardware. You are able to buy externnal mics for your iPod, So there is no need to get worried

Also, You can say whatever you want. Whether it be iTouch or iPod Touch, Almost everyone here knows what you mean. Either one works
