i personally love the 2nd gen. speaker is great, internet is faster, better batt. life, volume rockers, and nike+ ipod is great built in.no the 2nd gen cant be jail broken YET. just buy the 2nd gen wait a few more weeks and it should be out. jailbreak can give u different main screens.(look around this sit u will find them) apps that apple may have rejected and other stuff

I prefer the 2nd gen. it's so much smoother and apart from the yellow screen, it's better than the 1G

    1st Gen = Jailbreakable.
2nd Gen = Non Jailbreakable. (Yet)

    That's probably your main concern.

Wait, how did you manage to get faster internet with the same wifi card?

    Why I haven't got one
Speaker is for casual listening, and the speaker itself is quite crappy. The sound is tinny, and doesn't sound as clear compared to the iPhone (ast gen) one. However, the speaker can be good for showing off apps such as phonesaber or TapTap
Nike+. Useless for me but not useless for some people
Battery life is a good point
the hardware controls are a lot stiffer than the iPhone ones, and I can't imagine changing the volume regularly, most people tend to stick at one volume to be honest.
The shape of it feels very nice though

I thought the same thing, but the wifi for some reason seems a lot better on the new iPod... It's more sensitive I think... Either way, - I'd go for the new iPod Touch. I love it.

    It may be the firmware?
