1st gen iphone help

    So my friends jb 1st gen iphone decided to get screwed up so i told i could fix it for him. I put it into dfu mode, but then itunes said that it could not contact the ipod software update server. Now it is stuck in dfu mode. What do i need to do? I did this once with my 3g but i cant remember how i fixed it...

    If iTunes says it can't contact the update server, make sure that your hosts file does not contain anything that would conflict with iTunes.

    well it was itunes fault. after i get itunes working it will work.

    I'm saying that because if you changed the hosts file to contact Saurik's server for any reason, that could be a reason why you are getting errors in iTunes, because it isn't actually contacting the Apple update server, hence the error.
