    Hello everyone

Has anyone had/have problems with the first gen ipod touch home button. It suddenly quit responding or takes forever to exit an application. Any ideas on how to fix it or is it starting to take a crap on me. I have had it since Apple released it back in fall 2007.

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

Try a restore. If it *eventually* works, it's likely not a hardware issue - unless in the span of "eventually" you're button mashing it like a fat kid playing street fighter. If you press it once, and the response is just delayed, a restore should fix it. Especially if you're jailbroken.

1G's have a habit of slowing down with intense programs. For example, on my 1G, I run Jasuto, a VERY demanding synth/sampler. Because it's demanding on the 1G's specs, it can occasionally lag.

If you're jailbroken, many JB apps like Categories and Winterboard can cause some lag as well.

I also noticed a small bit of slow down when I completely maxed out the memory once. Not much, but some.

It eventually works, but it could be up to a minute before it exits the application. I was going to try to restore it but I wanted to see if anyone else was having this problem first. I did max the memory out once but that was months ago now. I'll restore it in a little bit, hopefully that works then.

Mine 1G had a failed home button. Bring it in to the Apple Store.

If resetting does not work, then that was my next step. But so far it is working properly after the restore.

My 1st gen is in the process of home button failure =P

The button is really loose, and has no definitive click like it should when you press it. Also, the ipod doesn't recognize it being held down, so I can't DFU, meaning I can't jailbreak =\
