    I've been following this mac tutorial------> http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=3206
    which has worked so far, but i can't seem to restore my ipod without getting an error ("Unknown error occurred (1600)"). Anyone else experienced this problem and managed to get around it? BTW i am a complete noob, so please treat me like one!

    i love errors 1600 - 1610!
    i fixed them by
    a) restarting my computer
    b) disabling any firewall (i dont know why this this worked for me)

    repeat until it works!

    Ah... so i realised that i faffed around in the middle of the process and did a couple of things out of order. I went back and redid the last few stepped again and voila! One untethered ipod! The moral of the story is: FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS PROPERLY!
