    s p o o n f o r k n i f e

    DO YOU WANT TO ASK A QUESTION FOR THE GUIDE? POST AT THE BOTTOM!

    ====SCREENSHOTS====

    How do I take Screenshots?
    Screenshots are taken by installing either one of three applications. One is called Screenshot, another is Dock, and finally Capture. If you already have Dock, just open it and take a screenshot by pressing the screenshot button. If you need to install either of these applications, just go to Installer - they are already in Community Sources.

    How do I take Screenshots of the Battery/Unlock Screen?

    Tap screenshot, but immediately after that, press the home button twice really fast in succession to take the screenshot.

    You can also use the following method.

    The file he refers to is here.

    ====CUSTOMIZE====

    Here's a DETAILED, GREAT summary of what Customize does.

    ====SUPER THEMING====

    SUPER THEMING NOW WORKS ON 1.1.3 AND 1.1.4

    What is Super Theming?

    Super Theming is a term I just made up, so don't go trumping it around to other users unless it catches on. Super Theming, to me, means to skin EVERYTHING. This doesn't just mean make a wallpaper, dock, carrier image, and etc., but to skin the applications. That means the theme is like Vista Maximus.

    - Music Skin
    - Regular Theme (Above)
    - Safari Skin
    - Calculator Skin
    - iSolitaire Skin
    - Keyboard Skin

    You get the picture.

    So How do I do This?

    I will once again direct you to Super Theming Master: romeboards. Here.
    There is also a little thing by yz85 rider for 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 here.

    If you want to know how to skin keyboards, go here or here for a great tutorial by shotgunfool.

    Another Keyboards thing, here is a repo hosted by the TouchRevolution Dev Team for the Ferchos Keyboard.
    - http://touchrevteam.com/repo.xml

    ====TIPS ABOUT THEMING====

    - Don't copy other people's themes. The themes are theirs!
    - Don't just take other people's background and say it's your theme!
    - Vista themes are a "no-no." There are so many of them, nobody likes them anymore.
    - Try something new. Flip things up. Innovative themes are always loved.
    - Be Complete. Skin everything! EX: Ultimate Leopard 1.2, Vista Maximus 4.0. We love them!
    - Icons. Make a lot of icons. People can sometimes not like a theme because it lacks lots of icons.
    - Include a screenshot. We want to see what it looks like!
    - Enjoy!

    For a comprehensive look at this topic, see super51fan's comprehensive guide here.

    ====WHEN YOU'RE FINISHED WITH YOUR THEME====

    Where Do I Submit This Thing?

    Submit it right here in the Theme Releases Section.

    Remember to include a screenshot, a .zip with all the files, and a repo if it's on one. You can submit a theme to the official iPod touch Fans Forum repo here.

    Then, just wait for people to see it. If they love it or hate it, don't be discouraged. Some people just don't like how certain things look. Keep making themes for a better theming community!

    If you want to make a repo for it, check Deus Machina's great repo creation tutorial here. It will show you how to make a repo, but frankly, I do not suggest it. The Theme Release Forum is the best place to do it. The only reason I would make a theme repo is for a theme so complicated it has multiple parts like bob vansteel's Vista Maximus series.

    Can You Direct Me to Some Great Example Themes?

    Sure! Just remember, most of these theme makers have been working for a very long time and you might not be quite as good as them when you start. It takes time, patience, and hard work. Here are the examples.

    - toomuchcaffiene's Ultimate Leopard
    - bob vansteel's Vista Maximus Series
    - vipfreak's Clear Theme 3.0
    - ChriB's iMilk
    - Manic Nimrod's Glassy Edge
    - super51fan's iBlood V2

    Those aren't all the good ones. There are many!

    ====TROUBLESHOOTING====

    When I put something a theme on, it doesn't work. Help!!!

    The first time you use Summerboard, you need to restart to make the changes take place.
    Try the following
    - Restart
    - Make sure permissions are 755
    - Make sure everything is in the right folder. See below for where they go.
    My Icons are all missing! Help!!!

    Click here for my guide.

    ====ETC.====

    How do I get the images off of my iPod?

    First, your iPod encodes the images in such a way that they are invisible and non-existent when you view them on a computer. If you want to get them off and viewable onto a computer, you're going to have to follow these great tutorials. Just click the one on what Operating System you have, and you're set.

    MAC

    WINDOWS PC

    How Do I Hide The Top Bar?
    CLICK HERE FOR DOWNLOAD

    This replaces your Other.artwork file so put it there.

    THIS ONLY WORKS FOR 1.1.1 AND 1.1.2. DO NOT TRY IT ON 1.1.3 AND ABOVE.

    Please Note
    I (spoonforknife) am not the owner of any of the themes mentioned here. I am not the original writer of many of the instructions listed. I am merely compiling the information for people to view.
