    I'm going slightly mad.

    You shell-savvy folks, have a look at this:

    Code:
    [font=Courier New]Filesystem 512-blocks Used Avail Capacity Mounted on
    /dev/disk0s1     573416   573416       0   100%    /
    devfs                30       30       0   100%    /dev
    /dev/disk0s2   31103856 28629232 2474624    92%    /private/var[/font]
    What's wrong with this picture? Yes, that first partition at the top. The 600 meg one. It's full. Completely full. This is a problem. But it's a problem that's exacerbated by this:

    Code:
    [font=Courier New]drwxrwxr-t   17 root  admin   646 Jan 29 20:52 .
    drwxrwxr-t   17 root  admin   646 Jan 29 20:52 ..
    drwxrwxr-x   23 root  admin   782 Jan 29 20:30 Applications[/font]
    That's the top bit of my root directory. "Ah!" you exclaim. "That's not a symlink! You haven't moved your applications yet!" Oh ye of little faith. I'm not new. Let's cd into it.

    Code:
    [font=Courier New]/$ cd /Applications
    /private/var/Applications$ ls -al
    total 16
    drwxrwxr-x   18 root  admin   646 Jan 28 22:03 .
    drwxr-xr-x   19 root  wheel   714 Jan 27 23:34 ..
    -rw-r--r--    1 root  wheel  6148 Jan 27 21:48 .DS_Store
    drwxr-xr-x    6 root  wheel   306 Jan 27 21:48 .svn
    drwxrwxr-x   21 root  admin   714 Jan 28 22:03 Applications
    drwxr-xr-x    4 root  admin   306 Jan 27 23:14 BossTool.app
    drwxrwxr-x   19 root  admin   918 Oct 23 20:35 Calculator.app
    drwxrwxr-x    3 root  admin   374 Oct 10 20:48 DemoApp.app
    drwxr-xr-x    3 root  wheel   816 Jan 27 21:53 Installer.app
    (and so on...)[/font]
    Well whaddya know. It is a symlink. It says it isn't. But it is.

    This throws BossTool for a fit. It doesn't see the symlink so it doesn't think I've moved applications and helpfully offers to allow me to do so at this time.

    So, what the hell is going on here? No free space, and the symlink is fuxored. I mean, it works, but it's a bit messed up.

    I can't install anything this way; I'm getting the Installer crash whenever I try and install anything.

    What's my next move here?

    Never mind. Finally got it sorted -- for the most part anyway. I deleted the /Applications dir off the root (which did, in fact, have crap in it, even though it was supposed to be a symlink) and then recreated the symlink to /private/var/Applications. All is well.
