Okay I did everything I was told to do on various tutorials but when I got to the executing of windows.bat file if pops up and dissapears literally straight away before it even opens fully.

Like I said, I've done EVERYTHING tutorials tell me to do and there's only one method of doing it as far as I know which is this one: http://www.touchdev.net/wiki/Jailbreak_1.1.2#Step_1:_Downgrade_to_1.1.1_.28if_required.29

    Anyone help?

I'd try it on my mac but all my music is on my windows laptop and if i format it to mac it wont sync with my Vista pc.

    Thanks in advance

It worked for me. I have an HP Laptop with Vista. Took some tweaking of the directions, but my main problem was a connection error, but it still read and wrote the firmware.

I think I'll do that if I'm not able to do it on Vista.

    1. Do you have java installed?
    2. Are you running the batch file as administrator?
    3. Have you closed all itunes related processes EXCEPT mobiledevice?
    4. are there any spaces in the path to the folder containing the jailbreak?

I moved it form Vista's downloads folder to the desktop and ran the batch file from there and works like a charm.

    This may help

I've got Vista and I jailbroke my iPod last night! I had a few problems, followed all the instructions but couldn't get past the point you've got to.

A friend on here mentioned java, so I googled for latest version of the Java runtime and installed the latest version. Voila, it worked a treat. One Jailbroke 1.1.2 iPod Touch
