there are plenty of people just as smart or smarter than ipodtouchmaster on this site, you dont need him for this problem (no offense ipodtouchmaster) you DO NOT need to go to 1.1.2, just go to 1.1.4 and use ziphone or pwnage to jailbreak

There is no need to go to 1.1.2.
1.1.1/2 is outdated and a much poorer choice.

All you need to do is restore your iPod via iTunes to a clean 1.1.4.
Then follow this guide here and it will tell you everything you need to do.
(The guide details the different options, pre-jailbreak instructions, post-jailbreak, etc)

Right now I wouldn't even recommend a jailbreak considering next Friday, July 11, firmware 2.0 (along with the AppStore) will be coming out. You'll no doubt upgrade for the SDK apps (higher quality apps).
^AppStore will be along the lines of the January App Pack so it will cost $9.95

You should just wait and see what happens and then go along from there.
