Brief Bits: Apple Credits the Evad3rs for 6.1.3 Bug Fixes

You probably are well aware that Apple today released iOS 6.1.3, primarily the Cupertino company’s fix for the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak. What you may not know, however, is that like previous jailbreak fixes, Apple has given credit where it’s due–to the evad3rs.

Right now, you can find this information listed on Apple’s mailing list website, where Apple has credited the evad3rs for four out of today’s 6 changes. More details about the iOS 6.1.3 update will be released soon on the Apple security updates page.

Chronic Dev Team “Aren’t Going Anywhere Just Yet”

Earlier this week, it was brought to our attention that the Chronic Dev Team had finally shut down after a good, long 3 years.  They have been dedicated in providing the community with constant free jailbreaks, including the relatively recent ‘corona’ untether for iOS 5.1.1.  And today, unlike what most have assumed since the announcement of the “evad3rs“, they have announced that their role in the jailbreaking community is yet to be finished. The Chronic Dev Team posted the tweet above stating that they “aren’t going anywhere just yet.

Currently, the Chronic Dev Team is composed of @p0sixninjaninja, @pod2g, @pimskeks, and other members who have faithfully stuck around since 2009.  But as time passes by, this team has slowly been disbanding, and most of its members have gone their separate ways.  Most notably is the recent group formed by @planetbeing, @pimskeks, @pod2g, and @MuscleNerd.

The ‘Evad3rs’: A New Jailbreak Dev Team Formed by Pod2g and Friends

It’s just been good news after good news for those of us anxiously awaiting a jailbreak, hasn’t it? Pod2g and Planetbeing have recently been keeping us updated on the status of the jailbreak via twitter, and most of it has lead us to think a jailbreak is coming soon. Today, pod2g has tweeted that he, MuscleNerd, Planetbeing, as well as Pimskeks are forming a new jailbreak dev team: the evad3rs.

The team has not announced what they have up their sleeves — if anything — but I think we all know why this new “team” has been formed. We’ve already seen that Planetbeing and Pod2g have been collaborating on the next jailbreak, but this announcement means two others are apart of this group. They undoubtedly are setting up a platform to launch the iOS 6.1 jailbreak. If that’s the case, they’re doing a good job as the official evad3rs twitter account already has more than 10,000 followers. (more…)
