Watch this iOS 7 jailbreak ad

TheiPhoneThemeTeam has posted a new video to YouTube that highlights several of the benefits that can be gained through jailbreaking an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on iOS 7. The 30-second spot mentions a number of popular jailbreak tweaks, including Activator, JellyLock, Cylinder, MiniPlayer, NoteCreator, Alkaline, Winterboard, Messages+ and BioLockdown.

This video most closely resembles one we shared a few years ago, which featured 100 reasons to jailbreak your device. That video was prepared by Jailbreak Matrix, and highlighted a number of popular iOS tweaks and extensions in a similar fashion as this latest ad.

iOS 7 security bug allows for Find My iPhone to be disabled

A noteworthy security bug has been discovered on iOS 7 that allows for the “Find My iPhone” feature to be disabled directly on an iPhone in just a few quick steps. The process involves going to iCloud settings, changing the password field and then changing the account description. The video above provides a step-by-step walkthrough of the flaw, which is reportedly not present in the iOS 7.1 betas.

One important thing to note is that the iPhone would have to be unlocked first before a thief or malicious person could tamper with disabling Find My iPhone or your iCloud account altogether. Moreover, anyone that is concerned about their device’s security can enable restrictions for accounts and services through the Settings app.

Will you be upgrading to iOS 7.1 when it is released?

Apple outs new TV ad for iPhone 5s recorded at Burberry runway show

Apple has posted a new TV commercial to its official YouTube page that features the iPhone 5s at the Burberry Spring/Summer 2014 runway show that took place last September. The emphasis of the video is seemingly on the iPhone’s ability to be used as a professional camera alongside various equipment. This ad is not quite as heartwarming as similar TV spots by Apple, but still seems to fit within the campaign.

Last year, it was announced that Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts was hired on as Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores at Apple. Ahrendts will make the transition from Burberry to Apple this spring to assume her new position as retail head, a post that was held for 11 years by Ron Johnson and most recently filled by John Browett for less than a year.

Watch this futuristic video mockup of the iPhone 6

I think it is safe to say that iPhone rumor season is just about full swing, which is why it’s fitting to share this so-called “iPhone 6″ concept video from ConceptsiPhone on YouTube. The video showcases a next-generation iPhone with an innovative screen that wraps around the sides of the handset.

The concept smartphone also has a battery life indicator that flashes a certain color out of the Lightning connector, in addition to the removal of the front-facing bezel. Also, by the sounds of it, the new iPhone will have a larger 4.6-inch to 4.7-inch screen akin to popular Android phones like the HTC One.

Thanks, Tim.

Apple commemorates Mac’s 30th birthday in new short video

Super Bowl Sunday is an annual tradition in the United States that involves relaxing with family and friends over a game of football. But each and every year, the emphasis seems to shift further away from the game and closer towards iconic TV commercials and the half-time show…

With an average viewership of over 113 million people for the latest Super Bowl, an official record, the early leads that the Seattle Seahawks managed to earn made the rest of the actual game that much less interesting. So, what about commercials? Apple, interestingly, chose to skimp out on running a Super Bowl ad this year, instead releasing the following video to its official YouTube channel.

The nearly one-and-a-half minute commercial spot follows a similar script to TV ads for the iPad and other Apple products, where various uses of the devices such as healthcare, recreation and travelling are highlighted with inspiring music in the backdrop. It’s a nice campaign.

It might not have aired during the Super Bowl, but what do you think?

Samsung releases cringeworthy new TV ad for Galaxy Gear

Samsung has built a reputation for releasing both confusing and controversial commercials, but its latest TV ad for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch is downright awkward. Watch above for yourself, as a man introduces himself to a girl on a ski lift and begins taking 64 pictures of her merely seconds after. If you make it through the entire two-minute spot without cringing once, that is commendable.

Video: iOS 7 multitasking bug causes iPad to crash

iFans forum member Dorian Olarescu has posted the video above to demonstrate a bug that affects iPad multitasking on iOS 7. The issue occurs when using the four-finger multitasking gesture to swipe between apps; after swiping through three to four apps, the iPad 4 in the video immediately crashes to the Apple boot screen.

The user notes that all of the apps he has open have been updated with compatibility for the iOS 7 software update, so unsupported apps is not the problem in this case. He goes on to question if iOS 7 was truly ready for a public release in the first place, and we encourage other iPad users to share their responses in the comments.

Watch This: Video Comparison of Next-Gen iPad and iPad Mini

We’ve got one of the first looks at what appears to be the back shells for both the next-generation iPad and iPad mini, courtesy of YouTube user UnboxTherapy. In the above video, a side-by-side comparison of the two tablets shows that they are virtually identical in thinness and overall aesthetics. The next full-size iPad will bear a metallic Apple logo on the back, with a thinner bezel akin to the iPad mini.

Apple has yet to refresh its iPad lineup during this entire calendar year, so it’s fairly safe to assume that some updated models should arrive soon. The fourth-generation iPad was introduced last October, alongside the iPad mini. It has been speculated by multiple sources that Apple will eventually include a Retina display on the 7.9-inch model, but it’s unclear if the next iPad mini will reflect that change.

Gold iPhone 5S Faces Cringeworthy Scratch Test

I don’t think I would have the willpower to ever deliberately scratch an iPhone like this, but Jailbreak Nation has done the dirty work for everyone else to see. In the video above, watch as the shell of a purported iPhone 5S is scratched with both a coin and knife. The results show that the gold iPhone 5S appears to be more susceptible to scratches than the black iPhone 5, but we won’t know for sure until the actual device is released next month.
