Cydia: How to Pick Music From Your Lockscreen with PowerMusic MiniPlayer

powermusicminiplayerbanner

You may remember me covering a tweak called Pluck a few weeks ago, which lets you display a song picker on the iOS lockscreen for quick music-picking. Pluck isn’t the only option when it comes to having quick access to your music, though, with one tweak in particular exhaustively named PowerMusic MiniPlayer being a prime contender. (more…)

iMIUI Theme Ports Popular Android ROM to iPhone

iMIUI

MIUI is one of the most popular custom ROMs available for Android, redefining the look of the platform with an original user interface and improvements to over 200 software features. And while the iPhone is obviously incompatible with the software, several graphic designers have been working on porting the design of MIUI into an iOS theme. Last month it was Minimal MIUI, and now it’s iMIUI.

iMIUI is a MIUI V5 port on deviantART that promises to be better than the original concept on Android, or so its maker onehalfkiller claims. The theme remains a work-in-progress thus far, with the lock screen, clock widget, custom icons and Compass app redesign completed. All that remains is some work on the Phone dialer, and then iMIUI should appear on Cydia. We’ll let you know when it’s available. A video demo of MIUI V5 follows.  (more…)

Cydia: How to Scrub Music on iPhone From Lock Screen Using LSScrubbing

LSScrubbingLSScrubbing is a new jailbreak tweak for iOS that adds audio scrubbing to the lock screen on iPhone and iPod touch. Simply put, scrubbing allows you to go backwards or forwards in a song manually.

It seems like Apple should have integrated this functionality natively a long time ago, but they didn’t, and LSScrubbing finally offers a solution. Unfortunately, that comes at a price.  (more…)

NowNow Jailbreak Tweak for iOS Replaces Siri with Google Now (For Real This Time!)

nownow

The NowNow tweak by iOS developer Nick Frey has been around since just after the Google app got updated to support Google Now-like voice commands. That wasn’t the real Google Now, though, due to the absence of “Cards,” a feature which provides you with  information you may need before even searching for it. The NowNow jailbreak tweak, which replaces Siri on your iOS device, is still fully compatible with the latest update to the Google app. (more…)

WWJC 2013 JailbreakCon Tickets Now Available

wwjc_main_logo

A few additional details were revealed this weekend about the upcoming Worldwide Jailbreak Conference, a two-day event that will take place between August 23rd – 24th at the Raddison Hotel in the outskirts of New York City. First and foremost, tickets for the jailbreak-oriented conference have now gone on sale for between $80 and $140 each, which provides single-day and two-day access to the event respectively.

Moreover, it was announced that this year’s JailbreakCon would have the attendees get more involved with hands-on workshops. In the past, several prominent iOS hackers including Aaron Ash, Cyril Cattiaux (pod2g), Jay Freeman (saurik), Joshua Hill (p0sixninja) have attended WWJC, and the coordinators behind this year’s event promise that they will be working hard once again to have the most influential members of the jailbreaking community present.

JailbreakCon originally began as a smaller roundtable event called MyGreatFest in London two years ago, moving to San Francisco as a larger one-day event last year. WWJC 2013 promises to be the most exciting conference yet, especially since there is an untethered jailbreak for all current iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models released. Keep it locked on iFans for comprehensive coverage of WWJC 2013 as it unfolds.

JellyLockClock Brings an Android Lockscreen Clock to iOS for Free

Photo Apr 27, 1 51 07 PM

With design minimalism gaining ground every day (this weekend’s Ludum Dare competition has even named “minimalism” as its theme), those of us with an iOS device might want to modify its interface a little to follow suit with this movement. It just so happens that Android 4.2 Jellybean has a minimilistic clock, and it just so happens that a tweak developer has ported it to iOS. It’s appropriately named JellyLockClock. (more…)

Winterboard Spotlight: Sublimity Icon Set for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad

Sublimity 1 Sublimity 2

Inspired by the popular Jaku theme for iOS devices, graphic designer Richard Fayad (subywrex) has been working hard on a new custom icon set called Sublimity for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The icon set, which should appear on Cydia in the coming days, will include a base 50 customized icons and automatic app icons for other third-party apps. Fayad then plans on making biweekly or monthly updates to expand the icon set.

Sublimity will be available for all devices running iOS 6 or later, including those without Retina displays. Fayad had originally planned on having the icon set go live on Cydia at some point this weekend, but he is busy polishing off a few more icons and doing iPad testing. In the meantime, the designer has already released an iPhone wallpaper pack that will match well with this icon set. Sublimity will cost $2.00 on the Cydia Store.

New Cydia Tweak ‘Prime’ Enhances Recent Calls List in Phone App

Prime

Prime is a new jailbreak tweak for iPhone that makes the recent calls list in the Phone app easier to navigate at quick glance. While missed calls show up as red, there is traditionally no way to visually distinguish between outgoing and incoming calls in the list. That’s where Prime comes in, a simple solution that labels outgoing calls green and incoming calls blue. Prime, developed by thekirbylover and rv1raj is a free download on Cydia from the ModMyi repository and requires iOS 6 or later. Let us know how it works for you.
