PreferenceOrganizer Puts Cydia and App Store Settings in Separate Folders

PreferenceOrganizer 2 PreferenceOrganizer 1

PreferenceOrganizer is a new jailbreak tweak for iOS that divides Cydia and App Store preferences within the Settings app by placing them into two separate folders. Unfortunately, it was rejected from the BigBoss repository on Cydia because it may confuse unassuming, third-party users.  (more…)

Jailbreaking Gets Some Awesome Commercials

Apple’s most recent iPhone ad campaign is pretty awesome in my opinion, but their latest iPad ads were lackluster in comparison. The music that Apple used in the latter set of ads was apparently just catchy enough for Alex Soto however, a YouTube user who decided to make some similar ads for jailbreaking. Unlike Apple’s own, these are pretty awesome–especially considering they’re a first for the jailbreak world. (more…)

AltKeyboard: Swipe or Flick Keys to Type Alternate Characters

AltKeyboard is an upcoming jailbreak tweak for iOS that will allow users to type alternate or shifted characters by sliding or flicking up on keys. The tweak, developed by Newar (@Sentry_NC) and Alan (@tweakcc), will be submitted to Cydia in the near future. Little else is known about AltKeyboard yet, outside of the teaser screenshot shown above. Sentry is an interface designer best known for Auxo, Luna and Axis, while Alan is an iOS developer behind Tap to Widgets, BrowseInApp and StatusTab.

iOS Hack: Developer Adam Bell Routs Push Notifications Through Google Glass

This is really cool. Well-known developer Adam Bell, creator of popular jailbreak tweaks Stride and Cascade, has managed to port systemwide iOS notifications to Google Glass. The following video demo details how the process works, and it’s pretty awesome even in its infancy.

This neat hack brings push notifications to Google Glass from across your iPhone, no matter which app they are coming from: Messages, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or you name it. Due to the closed nature of iOS software, this implementation requires a jailbroken device.  (more…)

Badger Tweak Now Available

2013-05-21 19_51_04-

Badger is an arguably game-changing tweak that brings some fairly simple functionality to iOS. Using a configurable activation method, you can bring up the Badger window which shows any app’s notifications. From there, you can swipe to delete notifications, open them, and even quick reply to texts and iMessages.

In short, Badger is a notification center replacement of sorts that allows you to view notifications directly from the SpringBoard. One could argue that this tweak is similar to Velox in functionality, but I have found Badger to be far less buggy and to have a much more streamlined feel. It may not have all the functionality of Velox, but who really needs to add notes from the SpringBoard anyway?

The full Cydia description as well as a video and more information can be found after the break. (more…)

SMS GV Extension for iOS 6 Released on Cydia

SMS GV ExtensionSMS GV Extension, a popular jailbreak tweak that merges Google Voice SMS messaging capability with the Messages app, has at last received unofficial iOS 6 support. The tweak enables iPhone users to send SMS through Google Voice alongside the built-in MobileSMS module, the latter delivered by cellular carrier.

The jailbreak package is available on Cydia for iOS 6 by adding the repository http://cydia.angelxwind.net/ under Manage > Sources > Edit > Add, at least until it appears on the mainstream ModMyi or BigBoss repositories. The tweak has no icon, but rather is configured through Settings. A reboot is required after installation.

New Tweak Googiri Lets You Use Google’s Voice-to-Text Results with Siri

Google Now

Google finally introduced Google Now for iOS a couple of week ago, and I’m personally still waiting on a native tweak adoption of the feature. In the meantime, however, a developer by the name of MattCMultimedia has released a tweak called Googiri. As its cheesily clever name suggests, the tweak attempts to integrate the two services with one simple activator action. (more…)

ZodTTD Posts gpSPhone 8.0 Controller Skin Creation Guide

gpSPhone 8

iOS developer ZodTTD has posted a Controller Skin Creation Guide for gpSPhone 8.0, just prior to the emulator going public on Cydia as a free download. For those unfamiliar, gpSPhone is a Gameboy Advance emulator for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch that finally supports iOS 6 or later. ZodTTD has been collaborating with the iFans community during the beta testing period, and the emulator is now ready to go live for the rest of the jailbreaking world.

The Controller Skin Creation Guide will allow users to create custom skins for the gpSPhone controller, with step-by-step instructions provided by ZodTTD himself. There are three default skins provided with the public version of gPSPhone 8.0, and ZodTTD recommends that they be used as an initial template to make new themes. If you have any questions or comments, be sure to voice them in the discussion thread.
