Apple Maps and Google Maps have been at the forefront of iOS mapping solution discussions lately, but Earth 101 for iPhone (iPad app) is a truly awesome third-party app that also deserves a lot of recognition.
Earth 101 is a brand new app that features a 3D terrestrial view of the world, including its popular landmarks, more than 1,100 geographical objects and more than 250 other wonders of the world.
By tapping on the magnifying glass icon in the bottom left corner, Earth 101 provides you with a list of countries, capital cities, bodies of water, popular buildings and sports venues, and even streets. For instance, you can select the CN Tower from the list and it’ll describe the landmark and fly you right to Toronto, Canada to show you a 3D representation. Search for things both domestically and internationally, and Earth 101 will deliver.
iFans wants to give you a chance to try out Earth 101 for free, so we’re pleased to announce our latest app giveaway of five copies of Earth 101 for iPhone and iPod touch and five copies of Earth 101 for iPad. To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment on this post that contains “Thanks Earth 101″ somewhere within the message. We’ll announce the ten lucky random winners next Wednesday. Learn more about Earth 101 ahead. (more…)
