Winterboard Spotlight: Sublimity Icon Set for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad

Sublimity 1 Sublimity 2

Inspired by the popular Jaku theme for iOS devices, graphic designer Richard Fayad (subywrex) has been working hard on a new custom icon set called Sublimity for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The icon set, which should appear on Cydia in the coming days, will include a base 50 customized icons and automatic app icons for other third-party apps. Fayad then plans on making biweekly or monthly updates to expand the icon set.

Sublimity will be available for all devices running iOS 6 or later, including those without Retina displays. Fayad had originally planned on having the icon set go live on Cydia at some point this weekend, but he is busy polishing off a few more icons and doing iPad testing. In the meantime, the designer has already released an iPhone wallpaper pack that will match well with this icon set. Sublimity will cost $2.00 on the Cydia Store.

New Cydia Tweak ‘Prime’ Enhances Recent Calls List in Phone App

Prime

Prime is a new jailbreak tweak for iPhone that makes the recent calls list in the Phone app easier to navigate at quick glance. While missed calls show up as red, there is traditionally no way to visually distinguish between outgoing and incoming calls in the list. That’s where Prime comes in, a simple solution that labels outgoing calls green and incoming calls blue. Prime, developed by thekirbylover and rv1raj is a free download on Cydia from the ModMyi repository and requires iOS 6 or later. Let us know how it works for you.

ZodTTD Releases gpSPhone 8 Beta for Free, Here’s How to Get It

The moment has finally come and ZodTTD has returned to bring us his latest emulator release, gpSPhone 8. This highly anticipated Game Boy Advance emulator first and foremost brings with it compatibility for iOS 6.0 and above. As ZodTTD notes, this release also brings changes to user interface, controller skins, and cheat code support.

While completely free for you to download and use, ZodTTD would like to remind us that it is still in beta and that there are definitely many kinks that still need to be ironed out. But that’s why he has released it to us after all, isn’t it? The response to his original thread asking if the iFans community would be interested was enormous, and now it’s our turn to deliver. Check out gpSPhone 8 and be sure to let Zod know if you run into any problems.

iFans forum member ZodTTD Writes:

As many know, I came back to iFans a short while ago with a question as to whether I should bring back my beta repo and start updating my jailbroken iOS work. The response here was overwhelmingly awesome! While it took me longer than I expected to jump back into things, I have a gpSPhone beta ready as promised. I set up a Cydia repo to add where my betas will be posted and able to be updated. It’s a public repo and it’s free with no obligation to donate, etc.

Information on how to install the emulator and notes on currently known bugs can be found in ZodTTD’s forum thread. Head over there, download the beta, and be sure to report back with any and all bugs you encounter.

Cydia: Jailbreak Tweak Accentify Tints iOS Without WinterBoard

Accentify

Accentify is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that can tint iOS multiple preset colors. (Source: iDB)

If you are getting tired of the stock chrome appearance of iOS on your iPhone or iPod touch, look no further than Accentify to solve your problem. Accentify is an upcoming jailbreak tweak that tints iOS to the color of your choice. Well, sort of. You’re still constrained to the preset colors that the tweak provides you — graphite, butter, orange, chocolate, chameleon, sky blue, plum and scarlet red — but they’re all quite nice looking.

Jeff Benjamin has previewed the tweak over at iDownloadBlog, and notes that it works with several stock apps such as Mail, Safari, Settings, Videos and more. And, perhaps best of all, it doesn’t require WinterBoard or any other customization. Simply pick a color, and you’re set. Accentify, developed by @winocm, will be available on Cydia next week for 99 cents. What is your first impression of this tweak?

iPhone Jailbreak Tweak Abstergo Now Available on Cydia

Abstergo logoAbstergo is a highly-anticipated jailbreak tweak for iOS 6 that has been in development for over one year and officially launched on Cydia just hours ago, greatly improving how the iOS notification system functions. The tweak, developed by Andrew Richardson and Joshua Tucker, has a number of different features that makes handling notifications on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad easier.

Most notable are a clear all notifications banner that can be dragged down on the lock screen, plus the ability to set reminders on notifications within the lock screen or Messages app. With reminders, notifications can be delayed for specific durations, varying from just five minutes later to an entirely different day. Abstergo is also compatible with the Emblem tweak on iPad, meaning that you can set reminders from notifications that show up in a Growl-like banner style in the top-right corner.

abstergo1 abstergo2 abstergo4

Abstergo joins the ranks of Auxo and Velox as one of the top jailbreak tweaks out there, available for $1.99 on Cydia on the BigBoss repository. If you still haven’t jailbroken your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 6, be sure to follow our official how-to guide. With tweaks as great as these, the incentive to jailbreak is higher than ever before. Let us know what you think of Abstergo in the comments.

ZodTTD, the curator of several iOS emulators for legacy consoles such as PlayStation and Gameboy Advance, has been working feverishly on his latest gpSPhone 8 emulator for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. In a tweet from just moments ago, the developer states that he will create a public Cydia repository to host his beta software, which will include a first preview of gpSPhone 8 for testing by the public. Several weeks ago, ZodTTD turned to the iFans forums looking for beta testers and received an outstanding response from the community.

“Tomorrow, on April 22nd I’ll be releasing a beta of gpSPhone v8,” ZodTTD told iFans. “It’s ready to get packaged for the public repo. I’ll set up a repo anyone can add to Cydia for my betas. So tomorrow check for a new thread here [at iFans] with the repo URL and reply with any feedback. Hopefully through feedback my iOS emulators really start to shine again. I’ll also be on Twitter managing responses and announcing news.” Be sure to follow along in the forum thread and on Twitter for further updates.

Auxo for iPad Coming in May

Auxo iPad

Auxo, a popular jailbreak tweak that revitalizes the iOS app switcher, will be launching on the iPad next month. The development team behind the tweak has even setup a splash page to increase anticipation for the upcoming tweak, and promises to provide more previews in the coming weeks.

While there are ample benefits of jailbreaking your iOS device, there is no perhaps none better than Auxo right now. The tweak takes a new approach to the way multitasking works on iPhone, iPod touch and inevitably iPad, with card-sized previews of each app, improved music controls, and quick toggles.

Auxo for iPad should be available on Cydia for download next month. The tweak will support landscape mode on the iPad, contrary to being portrait-only on the iPhone. It’s also important to note that the iPhone version of Auxo costs $1.99, so the iPad version will likely have a price tag too.

Upcoming Jailbreak Tweak Will Enable Facebook Chat Heads Across iOS

iPhone Facebook Home Chat Heads

Facebook wishes that it could deliver the full Home experience on iPhone, but tough Apple restrictions will likely prevent that from ever happening. In the meantime, the social network has updated its Facebook app to at least bring its new Chat Heads to iPhone; however, the feature is limited to use within the Facebook app only. That’s where 21-year-old developer Adam Bell comes in, with a new jailbreak tweak that expands the Chat Heads functionality across the iOS platform.

The experience is the same as it would be on Android smartphones, allowing you to tap, drag, and fling Chat Heads on top of your Safari web browser, home screen, weather app, or wherever else you might be on your iPhone. While the port isn’t absolutely perfect, as it does some suffer from some minor freezing, it is hardly a resource hog and doesn’t negatively affect battery life. Also, there is no SMS or iMessage integration yet. Look for the tweak to pop up on Cydia and GitHub in the coming days.

Sentry’s Take on Cydia

Cydia-Alternative-Sentry-02

Have you ever wondered what Cydia would look like if it got a UI overhaul?  Like with many other potential iOS facelifts, Sentry is here to answer that question for us. The interface is very reminiscent of the App Store, with tabs that include “Details,” “Images,” and “Reviews.” Also notable is what I presume is a Cydia-side review system.  (more…)
