How to Jailbreak iOS 6 Using ‘sn0wbreeze’ 2.9.8

The iOS 6 untethered jailbreak was recently released to the public thanks to the @evad3rs.  The jailbreak exploit used by evasi0n was made exclusively for this particular tool.  However, ih8sn0w has released a significant update to sn0wbreeze — bringing it to version 2.9.8 — which finally supports jailbreaking iOS 6.  If you have yet to be jailbroken on iOS 6, then take a look at the iFans ultimate guide to the iOS 6 jailbreak.  If you plan on jailbreaking using sn0wbreeze, then hit the link for the full step-by-step.

Chronic Dev Team “Aren’t Going Anywhere Just Yet”

Earlier this week, it was brought to our attention that the Chronic Dev Team had finally shut down after a good, long 3 years.  They have been dedicated in providing the community with constant free jailbreaks, including the relatively recent ‘corona’ untether for iOS 5.1.1.  And today, unlike what most have assumed since the announcement of the “evad3rs“, they have announced that their role in the jailbreaking community is yet to be finished. The Chronic Dev Team posted the tweet above stating that they “aren’t going anywhere just yet.

Currently, the Chronic Dev Team is composed of @p0sixninjaninja, @pod2g, @pimskeks, and other members who have faithfully stuck around since 2009.  But as time passes by, this team has slowly been disbanding, and most of its members have gone their separate ways.  Most notably is the recent group formed by @planetbeing, @pimskeks, @pod2g, and @MuscleNerd.

Pod2g App Store App Releases Tomorrow

Without a doubt, Pod2g is a pretty busy man. He is known for having developed the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak and was also the one to bring attention to how closed iOS is.  That said, these projects are not the only thing keeping Pod2g busy as he has finally finished his first application submitted for App Store approval.

If you spend a good amount of time on Cydia searching for tweaks, then you will certainly know that there is a hidden treasure trove just waiting to be found and downloaded.  While popular tweaks such as Auxo and Zephyr are highlighted, there are obscure tweaks that usually receive little to no praise from the jailbreak community.

It is my pleasure to introduce a new iFans series: “Unmentioned: The Best Tweaks of Cydia.” In this new series of articles, I will attempt to unearth and highlight the hidden gems of Cydia.  These posts will hopefully stir up discussion over certain jailbreak tweaks that interest you, and stimulate members to try tweaks that seem worthy.

How to Create a Custom Logo Without Jailbreaking Using Windows

Earlier this week, CarrierEditor – a Mac app — was released,  allowing users to change their device’s carrier logos without jailbreaking.  Of course, this meant that your device must have cellular capabilities in order to proceed and that Windows users were out of luck.

However, developer Dany Lisiansky has released CustomCarrierEditor, which supports Windows and provides the same set of features as the Mac version.  Alongside this, the application also has another unique feature which lets you change the carrier’s text instead of using a logo.

To get started, you can follow this simple tutorial or simply request a logo from the iFans forum members.  The full instructions follows after the break.
