Apple Creating Wireless Headphones?

According to a source for 9 to 5 Mac, Apple may be developing a set of wireless bluetooth headphones to use with their various mobile devices. A now-defunct company, Wi-Gear, was recently purchased by Apple. Wi-Gear specialized in creating bluetooth cans for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and the LinkedIn profile for the co-founder states that he now works for Apple as an “iOS Bluetooth Engineer“.

A wireless pair of white earbuds would be awesome, and would finally put an end to the mess of tangled cables. I don’t know if the technology exists to pack all the needed parts into such a small space, but Apple doesn’t currently make any large over-the-ear headphones, and it seems unlikely that they would start now.

Of course, the engineer, Michael Kim, could be working on something entirely different. But, at some point in the future, we will be able to enjoy full wireless freedom.
